The only brand that matters
People have often said the Clash were “the only band that matters” due to their potent mix of punk, reggae, funk, dub, ska, and rockabilly. More importantly, they were a symbol of intelligent protest and stylish rebellion whose ideals and music sound as relevant today as it did when it was first released. In short, they were a band fighting the good fight that few others would fight at the time. The perfect inspiration as we fight the good fight in creating a more circular fashion industry.
reset society
Li Edelkoort is a respected designer, cultural forecaster, and educator. Her consistent work as an agent for change has culminated in her founding the World Hope Forum along with Philip Fimmano. Their manifesto is in direct opposition to the World Economic Forum and is about inspiring the creative community to rebuild a better society in the wake of the pandemic. This forum invites speakers from around the world to share their work on topics such as climate change along with caring for the neglected people involved in production chains and services. We have participated in a number of these forums and the dynamic concepts exchanged have inspired and validated our vision of a more humane progress.
the do-gooders
As a big fan of live music, we attended a show of Run The Jewels after the release of their self titled ep in 2013. Not only was it a blistering show, but after rapping the final encore from down in the pit amongst the crowd, Micheal Render (aka Killer Mike) stayed in the crowd shaking peoples hands and thanking them for attending (not leaving until all had left). The respect shown to fans that night made a huge impression on us. As RTJ continue to be a musical tour de force, Michael Render has become a champion of social rights and political activist addressing such themes as social inequality, police brutality, and systematic racism….and a continued source of inspiration for us to become The Do-Gooders of fashion!
